ok, yesterday i loaded up a reel and hit play.it started playing as noraml but the tape slowly slowed down until it almost stopped. fast forward works fine but rewind seems to be real slow now aswell. any ideas? i dont' have a manual and don't really know about fixing /repairing it myself.

im looking to get one of these as an upgrade form my tascam 388.which one is the best machine? e16,b16 or g16? are there any others?

i've been using 499 a lot lately. i know it's wrong but you get much high end than with 407/457.

the tascam us-122 is pretty easy/cheap and sounds ok.you don't need a high end pc to use it.
