Recording advice

How do you reach a lo-fi, "distant" sounding rec?
Kinda like "Initium" by Samhain, or the Mars stuff, or black metal stuff.
I can't kill the lows because it's a bass/drums only stuff.

Probably the Samhain one Is the best example of what I need to reach.

Re: Tube amp is dead

If it turns on but makes no sound at all its very likely that you blew a fuse on the high voltage supply. The amp turns on because the mains fuse is intact and the filaments of the tubes work and light up. On that amp, however, the secondary fusing is all internal (and possibly hard-wired direct to...

Re: Tube amp is dead

If any tubes are glowing your mains fuse is intact; there would be no power to the tube heaters (or anything) if it was blown. On the Marshall forum a couple of guys said the signal would have passed despite the dead tube, if the fuse was intact. I am VERY confused. I'm a newbie and have no idea of...

Re: Tube amp is dead

I have opened the amp just to be 100% sure about the "not glowing tube" thing. I had confirmation that one of the four power tubes is dead. Currently there are 4 Sovteks inside. The 3rd is not glowing at all. I'm evaluating if I can make an attempt to replace the tubes and bias the amp mys...

Re: Tube amp is dead

What did the tech say is the problem with the amp? Blown transformer? Any other info? I didn't bring it. Maybe I'm gonna just sell it as it is. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it. There is no hard and fast rule that says you have to replace all your power tubes at once. If the amp is...

Re: Tube amp is dead

There's a lot of useful info on tube amps here: https://robrobinette.com/Amp_Stuff.htm and here: https://www.youtube.com/c/dlab500/videos Also look around for Gerald Weber's Guitar amp servicing videos. they're out there. If you have a soldering Iron and a multimeter and some basic related skillz (...

Re: Tube amp is dead

I bought this amp for 800€.
The repair would cost 300€, and I'm not even considering any further damage aside from the tubes (e.g.: blown fuse). These KT88s are insanely expensive.
Really fucking depressed and don't know what to do.

Re: Tube amp is dead

I was also thinking the HT fuse. I took a look at the KK signature head, and unfortunately the HT fuse is not accessible from the outside. The amp use KT88 power tubes. A little more that EL34s,cost wise. It seems like a pretty standard fix for an experienced tech. Are these costly repairs? It's th...
