I haven't revisited Ayler's music in years but I do have really cool memories of listening to Spiritual Unity and LIve in Greenwhich Village while hanging out at my friend's cramped studio apartment getting a buzz off of cheap cans of lager before going clubbing later.

Kind of a gateway band for me in my early to mid teens. Heard Honey White (I think) on tv when I was around 14 or 15 and thought it was cool.

Now, decades later, it's passingly enjoyable. NC with waffles for having lots of filler songs.

Filth and the first EP. Don't give a crap about anything else they did. More or less "outgrew" Swans and Gira's shtick by the time I was 25. Zero shtick on How I Loved You . Nada. How I Loved You is Angels of Light though...I totally prefer those albums to mostly anything under the Swans ...

OOh ...can't decide. Tie probably. Jawbox were a seminal band for me as a teen and I've followed J.'s music since then with great interest. His solo stuff is fantastic so far. I also think he might be one of the best lyricists to come out of the American underground over the past 35 years...

I haven't spun either of these in sooo long it's an embarrassment considering how much of a fan I was (am!) for such a long ass time. A real hard block period of mostly Husker Du, Sugar, and that first Grant hard solo record. Zen Arcade was the one I was most infatuated with so that's my vote BUT.....
