For what it's worth, my father-in-law (a jewish, liberal democrat, who was the Chicago Trib's Washington correspondent for years) is friends with Robert Novak.

He of course thinks that Bob is off his rocker, politically-speaking. But otherwise, he's apparently a good guy and a good friend.
