XLRs provide balanced outputs (or CMRR), which is pointless unless you plan on running over 20' to your computer, and running out to buy some very expensive balun transformers to make it work.

I am recording on a Tascam half inch 8 track and I want to get the results onto my computer. What's the best way to do this?

I have access to a DAT, so I was going to mix onto that and then plug that into the 1/8 input. Is there a way to go direct and/or a better way to go about this?
