If volume really is a consideration then the THD Univalve and Bivalve Class A amps are incredibly versatile (they take most types of preamp and power tubes, 6V6's, EL34's etc) and can get clean to quite distorted tones at very moderate volume.

Can you save up for a bit longer?

I'd get a Josephson e22s or a Royer R121. I understand they work exceptionally well on electric guitars, preserving the uniqueness of the signall they're fed, and as versatile as hell to boot.

I'm in between pedals right now. Previously I owned a Tama Iron Cobra (which I liked) but it was a bit heavy and slow, and the foot board wasn't smooth which meant sliding my foot along for doubles or triples was slightly problematic.
