Okay, did the Elan that you hated so much have a wooden frame, like the Series II and early Series III consoles, or did it have a steel frame?

Are the Elan and Elite consoles to which you are referring post 1995 Elan II and Elite II consoles or older models? I thought the Elan II heavily leveraged the Elite II design and used the same mic pre, summing amps, etc. with the main difference being the lack of narrow Q on the EQ.
