That was first class. I almost wept! Many rare songs. They're keeping it up for a week...

As I have mentioned before, I knew Michael only through the great music of Silkworm and his posts here. Unfortunately I never got meet him.

One of my favorite posts by spoot was a picture of a sunset. I'm sure that at least some you remember it. You can find it if you make a search for sunset and author spoot. I would appreciate if some with more ability than me could maybe make a link to it, so everyone could see it.

I remember so well when he posted it. It was in the middle of a conversation about something that had nothing to do with sunsets. It made such an impression on me that he wanted to share a beautiful sunset that he was seeing with the rest of us. He didn't have to do it, but he did. He must've been a man everyone can look up to. I can see through all your posts that he spread so much happiness around him.

I remember someone saying that some people see more on their way to the grocery store than others on a voyage around the world. Based on the suset post and all the things I read and heard I am certain that Michael was one of the former. Somehow in the middle of this sadness this gives me a little comfort.

I'd never met Michael, John, or Doug, and only had the chance to see Silkworm play once, at the EMP with Mission of Burma. I was up front, and during the Worm's set, one of Michael's sticks fell off the kick drum and rolled in front of me. After the song was over, he sheepisly walked from behind the kit and I handed him the stick. Such an amazing drummer.

I also saw that show while I was out west visiting friends for a wedding. Both bands were really wonderful ... I've seen MoB two more times since, but I really wish I'd been able to catch Silkworm again. Damn.

Oh, and that picture of him with his nieces and nephews is great. It's a good reminder he wasn't just a great drummer, but a guy with a family who cared for him as he cared for them. And that's important.
