One of the better nu metal bands from Sweden. I guess they're actually doing well, thanks to Ozzie... Usually, a band this talented and unusual would be marginalized.

The nu-metal thing is sort of a joke... ha ha ha! There's supposedly a lot of money to be made in nu-metal. Go west young man!
I'd prefer to give them the vague label of "Art Rock". For some reason, I think they have more in common with Spock's Beard than Deicide. If you listen to something like DEP, there's a huge fusion influence. Not too far off from Planet X or something... At that point, they're one degree of separation from Dream Theater.
I hope I didn't ruin Meshugga for anyone by tainting them with fusion, but hey, they used to do that stuff... Maybe their next full length will have some of that... "I" sure didn't.
I would like them even more if they had a keyboard player or three...

7i can see how people would hate this band, but i love it. they do one thing and they do it very well. killer cross-rhythm grooves, ludicrous 8-string guitars in the bass register, spacey soloing admittedly ripped off allan holdsworth, rather meatheaded but satisfying barbaric yells, better than average but less than brilliant sci-fi trying-to-be-philosophical lyrics. once i got into it i couldn't stop listening...

8Appearantly, they have a new one out. It's supposedly not as complicated or technical as previous works. Kind of dissapointing, but I'll get it and judge for myself.
It seems for a lot of bands, being "art rock" was a fad, popular in the late 90's... Now it seems like being no wave, or whatever is cool, but probably not anymore. 80's revival seems to be "hot". I wish it was not.
I dunno. I haven't bought an "indie rock" record in years... Unless you consider Inside Out or Cuneiform to be "indie"... Independent, yes... "Indie", thankfully not... At least considering what "indie" has become... Put on yer suits pretty boys... time to make waka-waka on the geetar! Make sure to strike a pose...
