wow. i hope that gets made.
i did too...unfortunately it won't, as Richard Linklater rewrote the script when he took over the project (as he's directing it...) and to add insult to injury Keanu Reeves is the star...

I think Keanu might do well as Bob/Fred except for in the beginning when he doesn't have to portray a character whose mind is mush. Robert downey Jr. and Woody Harrelson as his fuck up roommates are perfectly cast.

My metric with Linklater is that if Ethan Hawke's in it--even as a cameo--it's going to suck. (It was true of Before Sunrise and Waking Life, anyway.)

15Here's the Charlie Kauffman Scanner Darkly script:

And Linklater has pretty much sucked ever since Dazed and Confused but I'm holding out some hopes for Scanner Darkly as the animation promises to be pretty cool.

17PKD is fucking brilliant. Anyone else here read the Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldrich? That'll mess with your mind.

18Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch was fantastic. Also his short story collections always provide an iteresting read.

20A huge fav.
The Valis Trilogy (including Radio Free Albemuth) are great. I haven't delved too much into his early work, but everything I've read from the 70s is great.
I'm fairly stoked for Linklater A Scanner Darkly. Anyone who saw Waking Life would realise he knows his Dick.
