I feel tragic posting this...

For the past month I've been getting a real buzz out of listening to Mission of Burma and Edgard Varese back to back. I just found out a couple of days ago Roger Miller digs Varese too, although that ought to be a no-brainer.

I pulled out my old Die Kreuzen albums the other day, for their yearly exercise. I am not a superstitious person, except for this: I have to listen to at least the first two Die Kreuzen albums once a year, or I'm convinced I'll be existentially consumed by a cold, hostile universe. I also surfed around the web and found a couple old articles on them written by Steve I had not seen before. I think perhaps Steve was the only person back in 1986 who was more spastic about this band than I was. My REM-lovin' friends at the time were very concerned about me.

In the car today, I listened to Fugazi's Furniture EP, the B-52's first album, and Ulver's Bergtatt (obscure 90's Norwegian black metal...Bergtatt is a concept album about a troll...I shit you not). Now I'm at home, and I'm listening to Webern and my cat, Antony, who's having a rather intense conversation with my bathroom walls.

P.S. I know the topic refers to only 5 albums, but I'm an incorrigible nonconformist who regularly disregards other people's expectations and demands and who has a penchant for verbosity. It's a wonder I have any friends at all.

this new comp is rad indeed.

the move - shazam!
wire - on the box dvd audio cd + behind the curtain (demos of material off of all 3 "good/early" LPs, totally worth tracking down)
minor threat - complete discography :nostalgia: still floored me into destroying my room and im 24 for christs sake.
the double - loose in the air. (rich, depressing, lush, fantastic. palm fronds was interesting but this one is even better.)
part chimp - i am come total ball melter.
