Eat A Peach is one the best albums of the early 70s. Unfortunately the rest of their catalog doesn't come close to this.

Thanks to my Dad, I have very early memories of Eat A Peach, Live at Fillmore East etc etc. Deep-fried granola rock, and I love enough of it to give it a NC. I hate 'jams' but 'In Memory of Elizabeth Reed' is the be-all end-all jam.

In terms of "chops", I believe they had Skynyrd beat.

i also have early memories of eat a peach thanks to my dad. he even had this long sleeve alman brothers shirt that had a little peach on it. i like a lot of the bands he was into. even some of the ones i don't like can bring back a fond childhood memory when i hear them on the radio. the allman brothers do not do this. they are crap. wanky, bullshit southern crap.

I bought the Eat A Peach SACD and it's good. Duane was 23 or something? Shit.
Not Crap. 4 for having two drummers that sometimes sound like one crap drummer.
I'll probably buy the fillmore SACD. I likes me some Whipping Post.

Yes, they have an idiotic Southern 'git er dun' following. Yes, they are touring with maybe two original memebr playing songs that are 30 years old. Yes, yes, yes.

But what they did while Duan Allman was alive is indisputable. Especially if you've ever had a bourbon on the rocks in May on your back porch in Georgia.
