Yes, Oranjeboom is good. Unfortunately, in Britain, we like to take nice beers and try and brew them here ourselves. This means we make our own Oranjeboom - its pretty crap and tastes nothing like the imported stuff.

Sme goes for Stella Artois, we make our own that has no correlation with the original. We call it "wife beater".

Moretti is cool. I dig the picture of the gangster on the front. I've tried the "doppio malto" version of that - tasty stuff!

I've never had a finer beer pairing with Italian food than with Moretti La Rosa. Excellent!

czechvar is good, brown bottles stop the damaging UV rays fomr flourescent tubes and the sun from skunking up the beer. UV damages HOP oils.. so heinie and pils urq. suck..

GUINNESS FES(foreign Extra stout ) is good.. and nearly 6.5%

I disagree about ALL Belgians being fantastic. But that's just my opinion.

As for the difference in bottles...although clear and green bottles offer no protection from the damaging wavelengths of visible light, brown bottles offer only limited protection. Although it's still not good for it, UV light is not as troubling to the beer, because glass is very opaque to UV light. That's why I always go with the kegging route, instead of bottling. That way you have total control over the beer, and you can ensure that you keep it cold, dark, and free of oxygen.

I'll add that the east coast is blessed by Yuengling (America's oldest brewery) out of Pottsville, PA.

I went to school in Scranton, PA. I shudder to contemplate the sheer quantity of Yuengling I drank over the course of four years. I still enjoy Vitamin Y.
If I'm drinking expensive beers, I like:
Smithwick's (recently brought to the US)
Corsendonk
Duvel
Fat Angel by Magic Hat
Harpoon IPA
Brooklyn Lager
Spaten

If I'm drinking cheap beer, I like Schaefer or Rhinegold, but usually bars only carry PBR.
On the rare occaisions that I drink a 40oz., I like Colt 45 Double Malt. Colt Double Malt=drunk in a bottle.

Green bottles make beer (mixed with too much sun) smell skunky...ick.

Highland Brewing Company--Oatmeal Porter --Greatest porter on the face of the planet. (Asheville, NC) (wonderul malty, medium body, chocolate-y)

Sweetwater 420--An Atlanta staple and goddamn good for a pale ale (not much of a pale ale drinker). Sweetwater Brewing Company--Atlanta.

Terrapen--Rye Pale Ale (Athens, GA)--Yes it's a fucking hippie beer, but hippie's often drink good beer. This is one of them.

Brutte Organic Porter--made somewhere out West. Great shit.

MacTarnahan's Mocha Porter--One of the finest beers to come out of Portland. Mac's makes better products than Rogue, for the Rogue fans.

Belgian Ales---not a fan. Only had Chimay Blue and thought it was too much like wine. I like more robust beers with more body.

I trade beers now with guys I work with. I'm in Atlanta, they're in Portland. It's really cool actually. I get to try beers I can't get here (microbrews) and the same goes for them. If anyone's up for a trade, let me know.
