A great injustice. Should have been able to see Shellac.

Thanks, Mackro. That's a very kind thought but, unfortunately, I the parent have other responsibilities this weekend! Damned adulthood. I've also driven about 1700 miles in the last two weeks and don't want to tempt the rath of the highway demons.

Let's all just try to remember this event as a lesson in Music Industry 101. Regardless of any ideals a band or fan may have, we are all subject to the 'rules' and whims of an industry that is run on a 'need to earn' system.
I have to say that I was a bit sceptical when I heard about this all ages gig at Berbati's. I'd been there before and I know the lay of the room (there are two bars in the one rather small room). I also know that a small club like that cannot guarantee a touring act what they probably ask for in the contract unless they are selling alcohol to help with the overhead. It was a $10.00 show, after all. The room probably holds no more than 300 people. Shellac likely need to be paid for their efforts, as do the staff of Berbati's. On top of that, the OLCC is in a panic due to the string of shootings in Portland's 'bar neighborhood' and do not want the responsibility of inviting even more teens into the area. That is only a guess at the logic behind their decision. Fear of lawsuits, perhaps. I read that a man was shot to death and a 17 year old wounded by a gunshot to his leg, I believe, very recently.
Anyway, thanks to all for your kind words of support. There will be other shows and maybe next time Shellac play my son's band (Vagabonds) will open for them. (Shameless plug).

I'm well over 21, and I don't get to see Shellac. That's because Shellac has the good sense to avoid Texas. Steve still hates Texas, and not much since he made that declaration recommends it. If anything, it's only getting hotter here.

I'm sorry you couldn't get in.

Hey Don, good news for you: During the Q&A on Friday night somebody asked why they won't play Texas, and Bob said they'll be touring there in January.
