Yes, I agree completely. I am disappointed that more of the female members here don't speak up. Too often this society has the attitude that "boys will be boys" and so therefore we should all chuckle and turn our heads. And, no, I'm not uptight. I just don't happen to find jokes about punching women in the head to be even the slightest bit funny. Maybe there should be a thread dedicated to penis mutilation or male-on-male rape?? Wouldn't that be hysterical? Oh, come on...no need to be uptight! It's funny!!

and Gramsci, thank you for your valuable insight into the USA. now i get it. i don't know when in the history of the US it wasn't run by uptight folks. i think it was actually "never".

and nice straw man, BTW. nobody but you said that the most easily offended should be making any rules. there *are* no rules in the first place. and if there were, they'd be made by the Electrical staff, most likely by Russ within the context of what Steve is down with. they have a very hands-off approach.

there are always gonna be people who are chronically easily offended, and there are always gonna be people who think it's cool to dedicate themselves to offending people deliberately. i don't think anybody would advocate any kind of "rules". it's just that some people do what they can to be respectful, in general, and others don't. and a place dominated by people who aren't respectful is a garbage place to be. it is the average internet forum. it is an AOL chat room.

specifically, the trigger recently is the fact that a forum that hasn't been exceedingly female-friendly has become severely UN-female-friendly, outwardly hostile. maybe you can't understand that, or maybe you don't care, but i think most folks would agree.

i think it's really sad. there are only a small number of women here. and there are probably some number of women would have stopped reading, lost interest in reading, decided they don't want to post here, etc, because the forum has been *such* a sausagefest lately.

you don't get it. that's exactly what i'm saying has been happening. the room was fun as shit months and years ago. and in the past couple months, seeing a rise in unmitigated locker room crap, it's less fun. locker room crap is *awesome* if done right, and if done in moderation, and if the folks involved have seen a lot of thoughtfulness from each other to know that there's something more than pure locker room bullshit. but pure locker room, without that "done right" element (which i can't properly quantify for you) is just lame.

it's like the difference between a guy being like "fags suck!" and a guy saying "i had the nut straight until you beat it on the river" and another guy saying "that sounded so gay". does that make sense?
