i'm guessing because of the homophobia quality of the statement. if so, i apologize. of couse i didn't mean any disparaging with the above statement.

i'm not homophobic, or mis-homo-ic, and neither are the guys who said it or laughed about it. the point i was trying to make is that in a public forum, sensitivity is even more important than it is in a small private group where everybody understands that there's nothing behind the stupid locker-room-caliber joking around.

my point was that saying "fags suck" is never funny, and that it's similar in tone to the recent mood here with regard to ladies, and it's really saddening to huge segments of society. and that for locker-room-caliber humor to actually be funny, it has to have a real, strong comedic value to it, that's strong enough to offset the offensive quality.

so if a guy at the poker game says "i hate fags", that isn't at all funny, and of course nobody i'd hang out with would ever talk like that in the first place. but if a guy makes a joke about how "gay" (or "gae" for that matter) something sounds, without actually having any problem with gay folk, it can be funny. saying "i beat your nut straight" is funny. it just is.

maybe you had to be there.

Sorry for that, Toomanyhellicoptors. I presumed it was meant to be taken in a humorous light. I was just trying, the operative word being "trying," to be funny. However, I've never heard the phrase, "I beat your nut straight" before. I think I'm going to use it. I appreciate its versatility.
