yeah, i dunno, i think all of nina's records sound incredible

i know _dogs_ the best, so that is probably why i stick with it

that huge low end on the kick drum is the equal of anything on a rap record or whatever, so it's really good for that area of reproduction

the third record, _run to ruin_, is great, maybe my favorite on the whole

very sad and very odd in spots

she keeps getting weirder which is all right

...straying off topic...yeah, I really enjoy when you can see an artist grow/change with each release. Hayden is a good example of this. Im getting R to R for my ladyfriend this holiday season, Im looking forward to listening to it.

Edith Frost's Wonder Wonder is a good reference CD, particularly tracks 1 and 2.

One tuned by Britt Walford.

Sarcasm aside, I saw Britt play with Evergreen once and his snare had that same distinct sound. He used a Tama kit for what it's worth, but the snare could've been anything. I've seen a lot of kits with toms used in place of a snare(Big'n/Neutrino) as well as bass or guitar strings in place of actual snares(Lynx).

I move often... so I have to lug my stereo equipment everywhere. I split my sound w/ 4 speakers. My two 10"s sit on the ground and capture most of the bass and mid... while the smaller of the pair catch all of the higher frequency sounds. It works nicely, considering my stereo is such a mutt, a mix of old and new parts. The reciever is ancient. But anyways. With this said. I get a lot of variation in my sound w/ different spaces. I tend to rely on these albums to dictate how everything will be:

*Stereolab - Dots and Loops (Nice high frequencies, blips, and fat low end... great sounding album. Best on vinyl)

*Hum - Downward is Heavenward (Good all-around power house album that will tell you if your system is really worth its salt)

*Radiohead - OK Computer (the panning is wonderful on this album)

*My Bloody Valentine - Loveless (Lush and Textured. Really lets you sit back and enjoy the finished product. When everything is how you like it... this album should sound like butter)

*Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream (I know... shoot me. Waaaaay overproduced, but a very round sound. I always use the intro on the first track of this album to get an "E" on my acoustic when I don't have a tuner. Funny)

*Chavez - Ride the Fader (This album kicks so much ass... I'll never get over it)

**?Let the onslaught begin
I could have been a contender...
