NOT CRAP

I'm with ya. I really wanted to be able to jump into a paper comic about racing and get attacked by someone with a wrench, and their video for "Take On Me" showed me what that would be like.

Not a fan of their music but that pencil sketch video they did for the hit "Take on Me" I believe it was way back when, wow! That flipped my wig, that is for sure. I think I made my decision to go to art school because of that video.

Don't tell my parents...

I've only heard "Take On Me"; based on that: not crap.

There's something about certain music/bands that's just nice. Does anyone else happen to find themselves strangely attracted to corny, stupid shit that you KNOW is corny and stupid, but for some reason you like it anyway? That's how I feel about A-ha; same with Zwan.
if i got lasik surgery on one eye, i could wear a monacle.

Salut, Instant Zen.

No offense, but I never thought that a-ha was simply "nice" or "corny, stupid shit". Despite all indicia (e.g., synth-y pop; MTV heavy rotation; absence of real drummer; ridiculous hair; Norwegian) that suggest that I would dislike their band with a Depeche Mode-like intensity, I am legitimately impressed by a-ha, namely their signature record, "Hunting High And Low". They display some really great songwriting and emotional heft, and their music possesses a strange, otherworldly quality that I find very appealing. Again, not my usual cup of tea, but pretty great.

Hmmmm...

Lots of "Not Crap" votes for a band that had ONE song with a clever video, and poor Frank Z. is getting pummeled with "craps" elsewhere, what's the deal?

The "Altered States" inspired ending was funny, though.

The waitress girl in the video was hot.

Ok, Not Crap, but with a huge side of waffles, bring those over sweetie.
