Can any of you give me any recommendations concerning these bands? I heard RR Jerk's "One Track Mind" recently and was cool with it. Is anything else worth picking up?
Is White Hassle's LP on Matador any good?
Do tell....
Railroad Jerk or White Hassle???
2i really like railroad jerk. i haven't listened to them in years. you got the album with "bang the drum"? if not, get that one. i haven't heard white hassle yet, because i am a worthless lazy shit. i was telling my friend just the other day that they had the best band name ever.
i could never get into jon spenser blues explosion. they always seemed too hokey for me. railroad jerk was the acceptable version, the "thinking man's JSBX" if you will. except i'm neither acceptable nor a thinking man.

3Go get their LP "The Third Rail" too - its right up there with "One Track Mind". They put out some 7"s and EPs that are OK, and lead man Marcellus Hall put out a single that I like. White Hassle is a little more blues-y and raw then RRJerk. Get their "National Chain" LP.
I guess White Hassle is still a going concern (http://www.whitehassle.com/shows.html), but they rarely play outside of NYC.

4Listen to the first 2 records. Self titled and Raise the Plow. They're out of
print, so it'll take some searching. Best rrj stuff - trust me.
White Hassle is just a band put together so Marce can hunt starfuckers.
