I've been digging up my old Tar records recently. I'm a midwesterner living in California now. However, I did get to see Tar a few times in the early 90s. Opening for jawbox in Muncie. Opening for Shellac in Muncie. Opening for Fugazi at the Aragon. You know, I don't think I ever saw them as headliners?!? Every time, however, my socks were left knocked off.

Anyway, I figured here would be the best place to get a status report about the band. I used to e-mail John Mohr after his move to Seattle. What happened to the rest?

I think they went over there once and had a bad time. Then they stopped touring. Luckily I lived in the midwest.

Europe - 3 times: AmRep Ugly American Overkill Tour 1991, Jackson Tour 1992, Toast Tour 1993 (the Tour that broke the band's will to tour ever again).

Ian wasn't charging that kind of money for his guitars back in the day. He was pretty much making 'em for yucks back then. John's was the first aluminum guitar he made, I think.

Tom's in band in LA called One Ton. Mark's in LA, but is moving to DC this month.

John and I are in Chicago. We have one child. Separate wives, of course.

We were in Europe 3 times, not surprised you didn't notice, there wasn't a lot of that.

btw, when we bought our guitars they were considerably less than what Ian charges now.

I moved back to Chicago-land in fall of '01.

Nice to hear what you're up to. After seeing you in Muncie I lost a considerable amount of hearing for two days. Just thought you should know that fact. I'm fine now.
