it's all just shit metal bands who don't wanna call themselves metal bands for some reason.
Ever see one of these groups and think to yourself 'they are grown men, don't they feel stupid?' they dress like 8th graders and the music sounds like it's made by high schoolers. when you are in a band and the entire audience is like, teenagers there's a problem somewhere. You have to think to yourself 'maybe I'm a real dumb ass if the only people who relate to what I'm saying are 15 years old, and real fucked up 15 year olds at that'

I started using the term "screamo" several years ago as a term of dismissal when referring to emo bands with loud, screechy, awful vocals. (Wait, that's nearly all of them now, isn't it?) So you're telling me that this actually exists as a genre, and these people are actually proud of this affiliation? The mind boggles.

The band I'm in came up in the DIY hardcore "circuit" so, most of our contacts now are the original member's old friends. Needless to say we play with bands like this far too often on tour. Most of them are kids, but a lot of them are older, and something disturbs me about it.

It was sortof cool in highschool, but that shit gets so fucking old so quick. It's all needless posturing and overly-emotional theatrics to me, how many times can you scream the same lyrics about the same girl that dumped you (probably because you freaked her out with your dumb lyrics) in highschool and STILL mean it? Still mean it enough to flail around on the ground and cry at shows and shit?

Its the same thing that happened with Rites of Spring that they talk about in Dance of Days. Crying at every show? Come the fuck on.

Additionally, it seems that a great majority of screamo bands are more than content with copying their favorite bands, poorly. "Yeah, my new band, we're pretty good - sounds just like 'I Have Dreams'" etc.

PURE CRAP. A lot of the guys (and girls) in screamo bands we play with on tour are super nice, but the music and the posturing is pure horseshit. Fuck them.
