Hi-
i need an MTR90 MkII Playback head. cant spend the $2,400 for new right now. any advice on getting a used one with some life on it?
also i will consider buying an entire headblock if the deal is good.
(16 tr headblock anyone??)

get in touch with jeff gilman at MDI precision motor works. he'll point you in the right direction, he's essentially THE otari tech. however, he's been working less and less on tape machines and more and more on custom eletro-mechanical gadgets.

also check out JRF magnetics, the studio i work at recently relapped out 16-track heads for our mtr-90 mark ii there. but it's getting harder and harder to find good heads (and good deals on heads) we've been on the look out too... good luck.

you should also call mike spitz from ATR services... he only "officially" works on ATR machines, but you would be surprised on all of the stuff he knows about other tape machines... and where there parts are...

you should also try dana hathaway at otari, he has lots of leads on used parts as well.
