This was really weird for my family - we just happened to be off work that day only because my father had very unexpectedly (he was only 57) died of a massive heart attack the day before... I spent the night at my mother's house and the next morning a friend of hers called and apparently said "turn on the TV", and my mom I think was like "fuck the TV", and her friend was like "No, really - turn it on" and then we started to find out about everything...

It was weird to feel like I was selfish for grieving for my dad and feeling pretty apathetic towards all these people that died that morning. I think maybe this did kind of keep our family from immediately sympathizing like we might otherwise have.

The next week when at the workplace semi-compulsory flags were being distributed (pins to wear on your shirt, little flags to post on your cubicle) I know it made me feel pretty disgusted. I'm proud of myself for not giving in to their childish pressure, but it's not because I'm like too cool for school or whatever, but you're never really gonna get me with coerced patriotism or coerced religion either.

Funny how none (I mean NONE) of those flags are up in the cubicles here anymore... it was so FASHIONABLE to wave that flag for a while there, yes it was.

Anyhow, in retrospect I can kinda think "Well, at least Dad didn't have to see this crap go down...", but also the selfish part is like "I wish he were there so we could've talked together about what was happening."

9/11 taught me what a beautiful and wonderful religion these A-rabs bring to the World, and how we should respect and admire foreign cultures in the hope that one day we can hope to be more like them.

Maybe if we embrace other cultures America can rise from it's 3rd world status and perhaps someday even rival England or MAYBE even France at becoming the most powerful, successful nation on the planet.

I just hope our Gov learned it's lesson on 9/11, i know i did.

It's mildly amusing how much of this gung-ho patriotism remains today.

There's an older couple (retired military) in our apartment complex that drive what we call the 'patriotmobile'- this fucking humongous GMC truck that looks like it's fit for carrying grizzly bears. You got yourself a little bit of everything on it: support our troops ribbon, POW/MIA black ribbon, Never forget: Sept. 11, 2001 front license plate, etc etc. I need to take a pic and post it on here sometime.

Do you not know what incest is?

I would say pictures of your mom fucking is incest porn, it's the act of looking at the porn that makes it incest not the guys she's fucking in them. Looking at sexual pictures of your mom=incest.
If you guys fistfight over the honor of arabs I wanna be there
