Going to to be in the Twin Cities Fri, Sat, & Sun.

What should I do? Where should I go? Where is a good place to drink and watch a White Sox game Saturday night?

I'm by myself on business, staying downtown, if that helps at all.
Help this clown out.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Go to the Loon for the game. Good food for a bar.

Go to Kramarczuk's if you like eastern european food. Or if you don't, go there to have your mind changed. Gut-busting and good. Especially good at lunch.

The hotel is called Courtyard at the Depot. It's a Marriot chain I think.
I wanna watch the game Saturday. Any show recommendations or good record/book stores would be much appreciated.

Steve, thank you for the suggestions.

Seconded. The Loon can be sometimes hit or miss, but the chili is usually pretty good. And yes this probably yr best bet for watching the game, tho later on the in the evening this area of downtown becomes a cluster-fuck of spagetti-strapped drunk girls and white caps stumbling from one bar to another pawing each other, looking for fuck and generally being idiots, proceed w/ caution.

Kramarczuk's is awesome and not too far from where you are going to be. Highly recommended.

Record Stores-unfortunately there really isn't anything downtown anymore, Let it Be closed. Treehouse is probably the closest on Lyndale and it is an excellent store, well worth checking out.

First Ave/the Entry are downtown and there should be something going on there if yr interested. www.first-avenue.com

there is the horrible "Block E"...avoid

The best strip club downtown is the The Savoy

I'll post more if I think of anything

and if the game ends early and yr feeling up to it Sicbay CD release party at the Turf Club in St. Paul Sat w/ STNNNG and Grand Ulena.

have fun, pm me if you have any questions need help etc

Pizza Luce, at 119 N 4th Street downtown, has great gourmet-ish pizza by the slice and is open 'til 2 a.m. or so. Really great.

If you want to stay around downtown and watch the game, 1st Avenue has a long stretch of sports bars (including the Loon), but, like The Classical says, they get packed on weekend nights.

If you want a real Minnesota experience, see a polka band of very large octogenarians at Nye's Polonaise Room (Polonaise being French for Polish), just across the river from where you're staying.

And if you're looking for band listings, etc., find a copy of City Pages.

I'll second Pizza Luce. I was there a long time ago, but it was very good. If I'm thinking of the same place, they bring your pizza out and put it on a huge can of tomato sauce.
