Once upon a time, when Converse owned themselves and made their shoes in North America, their shoes were worth owning and would last a long time, even on kids. Now they're owned by Nike, are made in South East Asia, and fall to pieces very quickly. The idea that these are supposed to be baseball-playing apparel is a joke.

Not awesome.

Now let's see...

Simon Schama's 'A History of Britain' books.

Germany

Ummagumma

Dave Pajo

Tolkien

Cheese on Toast

Poodles

Working in a university library (a world of wonder and beauty, without any of the stress of actually being an academic or a student)

Ta’i chi

Getting records through the post

Being a libran rat

Linen shirts

Having bought from the last US-made batches, though, I can affirm that by the end of production, the US-made ones wouldn't last forever, and in fact the canvas near the grommets would fray rather quickly. Dunno what the quality is like now, but it was on the decline in 2000.

As I read this, the opening measure of When the Levee Breaks played on iTunes shuffle.

I am not lying.

Itunes Shuffle.

Coffee, and the optimism it provides.

The light, early morning and late afternoon, in October.

Playing drums in a band you really, really enjoy.

Dogs.

Long, good meals with friends.
