Yeah School of Rock sucked (that one lead guitarist doing the 360 guitar strut was funny) and the CD sucked as well. But the Mr. Show Tenacious D's- I've watched over a 100 times and I'm not exagerating, If I still had it on video I'd watch it more.

The Tenacious D DVD has all the HBO shows (except the Mr. Show stuff)and the HBO short films that are pretty good. I mean, I took my moms to see School of Rock on her Birthday, and we laughed. We likeded it allot. It's a movie for kids, c'mon kid.

Most of the people I meet that are hatin' Tenacious D or Jack Black are also trying to convince me that Adam Sandler's a genius, so I'm not hearin it. Face it, far as good "comedy" actors in Hollywood, they gots a pretty empty bench.

There was another Jack Black, a career criminal who ended up as a librarian for the old San Francisco Call newspaper, who wrote a book about his life called "You Can't Win." This book was hugely influential to WS Burroughs, who took characters out of it and used them in his own fiction (i.e. Salt Chunk Mary). If a gun was put to my head and I had to name my favorite book ever, I'd have to go with "You Can't Win."

It's weird, at one point in "School Of Rock" Jack Black is ranting about The Man to the class and he says "You can't win" very loudly. I'm wondering if he took his name from the bk, or if Linklater knows about it and wanted that line in there, or if it was just pure coincidence?

THAT is a great book. Shits vs. Johnsons, the Sanctimonious Kid...thank you for reminding me to read that again.

The other Jack Black: His facial expressions while singing "Immigrant Song" are really funny to me. I don't think School of Rock was supposed to be a grown-up movie, though.
