Band: The Fucking Am
3This band/album is outstanding. Maybe 100x better than the TransChamps band/record that came before it. Who knew Josh Smith leaving could be so beneficial?
Soundly not crap, I don't care what you think of the Champs or Trans Am. This record is the mindkiller.

Band: The Fucking Am
4I dunno... Haven't heard them, but I intend to see them live.
I love the champs, but trans am aren't my thang. I went through a phase where I bought pretty much every trans am record, and liked most of their material, but it's just too repetitive to have staying power. That said, I'm not a fan of the Krautrock sub-genre, which is a huge influence on trans am.
I saw the champs a coupla months ago, and their new stuff is cool. I mean, these guys have a really defined sound, but it allows them to do complicated and engaging work. Stuff I can listen to more than 2-3 times, and enjoy for years to come. Yes, the dual guitar solo harmony thing is their schtick, but it's a good one. British metal with brains...
They're like the IQ of indie rock, in my book. Both bands have a defined sound, a bit derivative, but they just write great songs that have some serious fiber and juice to them. Where as trans am are just juice. After I get over the initial sugar rush, there's a crash where I realize it's just sorta not that brilliant.
I can't vote c/nc until I see them.
