Wilco.
This new live album is fantastic, and the newest incarnation is amazing live.
The Black Crowes' show a few weeks ago was great.
Gomez.
I will never miss another one of their shows again. Incredible live act.
Bands That " Bring It" Live
72There aren't many things in this thread that have surprised me. I would expect "bringing it" from many of the bands that have been cited in this thread.
Therefore, I'd like to hear examples of bands that one would not normally associate with the "bringing it" having "brought it".
For example, and for some unknown reason, I once ended up at a Goo Goo Dolls at the Iowa Memorial Union in Iowa City, Italia, about seventeen thousand years ago. And you know what? Those Goo Goo Doll bastards brought it! They brought it with that fake-o Replacements rock that they used to play! They even did a great job with "(That's When I Reach For My) Revolver"!
That was surprising!
Maybe they were "energized" by the "college crowd".

Midnight Oil
Bill Frisell
Bob Dylan
... I think if the Goo Goo Dolls ever rocked my socks off, I'd have long since buried that night like a handicapped cousin you fuck and then strangle to death with a piece of twine.

74This has nothing to do with them bringing or failing to bring anything, but how fugly is the guy who plays bass for Goo Goo Dolls? Props to you, bass player guy, so ugly and so moderately rocking in an unoriginal yet somehow convincing manner.
I think I sort of like the Goo Goo Dolls song "long way down" only because the fugly guy screeches "long way down" during the chorus while the studly guy is emoting about how he doesn't think he can make it on his own. It just works.

75Dates, even exact years, are hard for me to remember, but places are not. All of them happened somewhere in, or near, Chicago over the last 15 years. Off the top of my head:
The Sea and Cake at Lounge Ax (right around "The Biz" record)
The Sea and Cake at the Hideout (after "The Fawn"?)
Shellac at Lounge Ax (the shows played on a St. Valentine's Day weekend. Their guitarist handed out $2 bills at the door)
Abilene (all shows played with Craig Ackerman on bass and before Fred Erskine on trumpet - sorry Fred)
Mission of Burma at the Metro (reunion show)
Lungfish at the Fireside
Les Savy Fav at the Metro (singer sang from a ladder in the middle of the crowd)
Prefuse 73 at the Empty Bottle and later at the Abbey Pub
Teenage punk bands in various locations around the northwest suburbs (can't remember any of their names).
Ah, there are more! But it's hard to think back about 'em all. Memory has forsaken me!

That night* a bunch of us went to see Helmet/Jesus Lizard in San Francisco. I don't remember Helmet so much, but the Jesus Lizard show was wild. Yow jumped headlong into the crowd throughout the night, each time reappearing on stage with more scratches and splotches. He'd spit at the crowd just before he dove in, which I found endearing.
I saw Guy in the crowd, dancing feverishly during the show.
Hey, I was at that show as well. My first exposure to the Jesus Lizard. I remember wondering what in the hell was wrong with the singer. Was he drunk? Was he...challenged? Ha!
Some bald dude named Rob didn't threaten to "fuck you all up" that night, did he?

Firewater (never heard them before the show. Converted!)
These bands BROUGHT it!
Which i'm assuming what is implied is that i went with little to moderate belief and left preaching the gospel.

This is so wrong, but so funny...salut!
Since the live skeletons are coming out, Pearl Jam put on one the best shows I've seen (in Katowice, Poland) in 2000. The Dismemberment Plan (!) opened. Somehow, this show, she captured that feeling of to be a young high school graduate with plans to major in the fake Italian and for to conquer the world.
And pretty much all the ones mentioned.
also:
(fake) Don Caballero- 2004
Melvins/Isis- 2001
Crooked Fingers this year
so many.
