RCA ribbon mics
2thats a very broad question. each RCA ribbon microphone ive used sounds grossly different from other RCA models.
i think you'll find most ribbon microphones to be quite excellent sounding not just RCA ones.
the only ribbon microphones ive hated were some shure ones, i believe its model 316. yeah those crappy "long" silver ones. maybe mine was busted but it really sounded like a cheap condenser.
i would try some of the lower priced RCA's and see what you like. BK5, or the mi-6203 are very inexpensive and sound excellent. the 74b JR is an acquired taste so i wouldn't go for that right away.

3The RCA Varacoustic is another more affordable alternative to the pricier RCA ribbons.
