Not Crap because they're a good metal band. Metal is almost always shit, everyone knows that, it just goes chugchugchugchugroooar and nothing interesting happens. They actually have songs that are both heavy and memorable.

That said though, their last album I think was, to use an American expression, "phoned in". Havent heard the newest, I dont even know if its out yet.

Absolutely. This band had potential. The sound...or production, if you will, is shit....but they could have sounded pretty good. Too bad. Crap for obvious reasons...Not Crap for what they could have been.

i really like system of a down, i think their sound is very interesting and they have some beautiful harmonies.

They are intelligent musicians and their sound is completely unique. No, seriously. When i hear a SOAD song for the first time, i know IMMEDIATELY it is them. Compare that to the usual reaction one of us would have when hearing some nu-metal band on the radio. "Wait, is this Disturbed or Staind or Saliva?" Whether you think that makes them uniquely crappy or uniquely capable, i think their uniqueness is worth noting considering they're corporate major label whorebags.

Also, their singer has basically completely fessed up in public to their band more or less owing their entire existence to the influence of Mike Patton and Mr. Bungle.

These things will be considered by many members of this forum as validation for their CRAP vote. Fine. Good for you. Whatever.

All in all though, these guys fall under the "not that bad" category for me. Barely NOT CRAP with heavy for the one time i saw them live. Their stupid douchebaggy day-glo face paint made me laugh and laugh. And live, i dunno, it all sort of mushed together into a big ol' mosh pile.

But yeah, just barely Not Crap.
