I drove from one end of Texas to the other today and my playlist was:

Matthew Shipp - Equilibrium & Harmony and Abyss
Wire - Pink Flag
Pink Anderson/Rev Gary Davis combo CD
Binary System - Invention Box
French Toast - In a Cave
David Budbill and William Parker - Zen Mountains Zen Streets
The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
Gorecki - Three Pieces in Old Style
Elliott Smith - Roman Candle
Amercian Masters vol. of the Bernstein Century series

...and because a roadtrip through Texas just wouldn't be the same without 'em:

Scratch Acid
Lead Belly

Also, when I driving by Schulenberg (between San Antonio and Houston), I listened to some polka renditions of Christman carols on a local Czech radio station, because I found it amusing.

At the moment I'll listening to Richie Hawtin's Concept 1 96:CD.

The Wingdale Community Singers: S/T
(D. Grubbs w/ Rick Moody & Hannah Marcus)
Pretty good faux old time folkie thing… more trad than the usual Grubbs deal. Though there is one of his somber/odd piano tracks on there. So much harder to find a record than it should be in the US.

The Band: Stage Fright
The third record by the band. Not quite up there with the first two… but really charming anyway. I wanna be Levon Helm one day. Maybe Next Wednesday.

Luciano Cilio: Dell’Universo Assente
strange Foreign record thrown in for credibility. Admire my taste now. Actually, a very subtle and pretty quite record from an Italian fellow. Sparse yet quite Dark at times. Reminds me of some of the less weird instrumental elements of Gastr, but 15 years ealier.

Dorothy Ashby: Afro Harping
Ok, none of the other tracks on here touch the first one on this record, but still.
