Damn Horsewhip, quite a few Louisville albums in there, and the funny thing is, they all share the same members. I definitely second Black Cross, this band fucking rules.

1.6 Band (DC)
Bearclaw (IL)
Hose.Got.Cable (VA)
Three Second Kiss (Italia)
Wino (KY)
Lords (KY)

Yeah. I've been listening to a lot of that stuff. It started with the Breather Resist record. And then I found out that there were 37984729873 bands with the same members. Naturally, I had to check them all out.

If you like all of those bands, I suggest you check out Lords as well. These guys all run in the same circle. Chris Owens (singer/guitarist) also runs one of the most popular recording studios in town, appropriately named "Kill Your Mama Headbangin' Music". I also strongly urge you to check out Teen Pregnancy!. I can't stop listening to this shit.

Teen Pregnancy is quite smashing for loud stuff out of Louisville.

As for good loud shit, not sure what may have been mentioned so far entirely...

But...

Earth and Sunn0))) have been steady new winners that I hadn't been into before. Helmet is one of my all time favorite bands. Not sure that they fit in to loud, but I'm sure they were...but I've really gotten into Killing Joke of late. Bellini are tight as well.

Boris is another band worth peeping perhaps for loud loud tunes.

Some great bands that got left off...

Playing Enemy (picking up where Deadguy, Kiss It Goodbye and Rorsache left off)
Mare (Old singer of The End playing some amazing melodic sludge, HEAVY)
Dove (Ex Cavity, Assuck and Floor)
Cave-In (but only listen to Until Your Heart Stops)
Knut (they're on Hydrahead)
The Holy Mountain (I've played several shows with them, epic thrash from Florida)

Some of those mostly instrumental LOUD and heavy bands that seemed to be left out:

Isis
Pelican
Mogwai (hah!)
Red Sparrows
Old Man Gloom (members of Converge, Cave-In and Isis)
5ive
Jesu

i could go on for a while...

Tora! Tora! Torrance! they broke up but, I like this band alot, the vocals are super snotty but I couldn't hear it any other way.
