I think some gamelan music is played in a tuning close to piano and thus it should be possible, yes. There was a Radio 4 show relating to this the other day, do a search here for 'Colin McPhee' to find a link...

Or are you talking about the John Fahey tracks?

I heard that radio show really oddly in the car on the way to a gig we were playing!
i prefer J Robbins anyway
