agreed, everything after and including that was pretty sub-standard. accually, i wasn't too impressed by four great points either. i miss the old, dirty, slightly out of tune, grizzeled sound of their first three releases.

i saw em live in madison with will oldham and the black heart procession. they were like all stoned or something and weren't screaming. the drummer looked like he was having a blast though. he's a fun guy to watch play the drums, but like in the opposite way that the drummer from don caballero is fun to watch, as in , he looks happy and comfortable versus pissed off and in pain.

not crap

a great band

their drummer, doug scharin, one of my fav's for both precision/technique, etc.

_tropics and meridians_ was def. the best thing they did, but i loved 'june miller' off _engine takes_ and _four great points_ was a nice one as well

didn't get into the shipping news as much...

kevin spacey rocks, tho

One of my most favourite commands. Here there is nothing to discuss, this topic is not necessary, as well as topic about shellac and jesus lizard. anything disputable, only your subjective opinions (it is pleasant - it is not pleasant; I understand - I do not understand).

It seems that every experience I've had with Rodan and offspring have left me flat. My first exposure to Rodan was live, at a show with Vineland and Don Cab and it was a top 20 show. Each band more amazing that the previous.

That being said, "Rusty" was good but didn't linger, and the same goes for a majority of all offspring: June of '44 , Rachels, Shipping News, Sonora Pine, TJ O'Neil etc - excepting for the first Rachels album, the first couple tracks off of the JO'44 Four Points record, and a smattering of TJ O'Neil songs.

I agree, Mr. Scharin is a singular drummer, but my appreciation is more from Codeine and the Directions in Music record (which is a excellent listen) than it is from June of '44 output - but I do like his drumming overall.

June of '44 just sounds tired to me, and it makes me tired. Crap.
