I am not going to vote because I don't really care, but I will note that I was watching the Cinci Pop Festival the other day and had a hearty guffaw watching Mountain. Leslie West was hilarious. 300 lbs on high heel boots, velour jacket, etc, atonal solos, and stinky hippies everywhere. Riot. Grand Funk Railroad, The Alice Cooper Band and Iggy and the Stooges were the bread around Mountain's meat. Worth tracking down.

Mountain are harmless. Certainly not amazing or the greatest band ever, but they are fun and there is an audience for them.

If you like generic '70s hard rock, you will be amused by them. Sorry if anyone gets offended by me saying generic, but it's not like they have ever pretended to be anything other than that specific sound, at least from the albums I have heard. I don't really listen to them anymore, but I admit I did for a while, after being turned on by my parents' wax copy of Twin Peaks.

Cinci Pop Festival

-There's a stellar version of Dreams Of Milk And Honey in that set.
It starts of with a long guitar solo, and the whole band comes in and POW!...Leslie screws up the words and his guitar strap falls off near the end, it's total chaos, and he just keeps charging ahead. Fucking brilliant.

Vibrato! Pinched harmonics! Loud amps! Cowbells! Les Paul Jr.s! NOT CRAP!

Leslie West has a funny cameo in The Money Pit, which is a travesty otherwise, except for the funniest line in movie history (not delivered by West):

"You live with someone for thirty years, you think you know him....and then one day Israeli Intelligence knocks on the door."

My uncle Dusty had a couple of Mountain records he left me when he joined the Navy. I was just starting to learn guitar at the time. I like them well enough.
