NOT CRAP, with a qualification. I don't listen to Beck, but I approve of Beck for being something of a major-label auteur. He's on a major label and has managed to develop a career, which is increasingly rare these days. And I'm fairly sure he does more or less what he wants to do.
I have no problem with Beck; I like what I've heard, but I'm not interested in buying. I'd put himself in the same category as Bjork. I don't know his work well enough to give a definitive C/NC vote, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

13kinda tricky. Sea Change is quite an amazing record. Sounds amazing, awesome songs. But that can't make up for "Sex Laws", one of the most irritating songs ever.

14i like his voice sometimes
the song he did w/jon brion in _eternal sunshine of the spotless mind_ fit the movie pretty well
i guess he must be a talented entertainer
but i have heard a lot of his music, and, whilst i am engaged by it enough to type some on a message board, i am not engaged to the degree that i would even bother to click on a vote button, much to actually vote 'not crap'
i feel queerly unmoved by his music. i have no interest in his music.
ok! NOW i'm interested!!!

It may be the most intimate and depressing release since Gin Blossoms’ ‘New Miserable Experience.’

"Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime" I think.
It's actually a cover, in case you or anyone didn't know, by The Korgis. I found a 7" of the original and it's actually better. Oh that b-side, though - yuck.
I still don't like Beck. Everything I hear anything by him, I am reminded of several artists who do it better.

19Self is great. In theory they're (he's) coming out with a new album soon. But Matt's too good for us losers in Murfreesboro these days.
Spending all his time around LA...
I remember thinking, "oh this is great, if I go to school in M'boro, I'll surely get to see a self show or two...." Nope.
Beck is ok. My girlfriend is a big fan, so I'm pretty exposed to his stuff... it's ok.
