5i once had an unlabeled mp3 on my computer. just said "track 1", no name. i put it on and it rocked incredibly hard. i danced around like crazy and put it on 20 times in the next few days.
then i found out it was "17 years" by ratatat. i went to a ratatat + mouse on mars show. ratatat came out drunk and played sloppily over their drum programs, no fun sloppy, just dumb sloppy. there was very little energy in any of their other songs. mouse on mars came on. i didn't know what to expect, but man they had lots and lots of energy and they got me dancing, a rare thing. for some reason i got the ratatat cd, listened to it a little bit and gave it to my mom.
these guys had one song which combined the good bits of the fucking champs and the good bits of daft punk, and surely some of you think neither of those bands had any good bits. well, i liked that song, but the rest was crap.

6I loved their s/t album, and it made my top ten of the year in 2004. I saw them live, and i thought they were fantastic.
Plus, their (hip hop/rap) remix album is so good I can't deny I like it and play it loudly in my car.

7they are interesting.
they sound like video game post-coital lounge.
i can't decide. at random i'm going to let another poster choose for me.
next person to post gets to decide whether i like ratatat.
