2bombastic nonsense. i'd hate it if i heard it for the first time today (at age 25). however, there was a time many years ago that i really liked this album (and movie) a lot. i hate the circus music on side 4 of the record, and "young lust" is one of the worst songs i've ever heard, but i can still stomach a good deal of this album. i put it down to nostalgia/guilty pleasure.
i'm voting a very reluctant NOT CRAP, with about as big a waffle factor as possible.

3Ugh, I remember when it came out I started not liking Pink Floyd. I never bought a Pink Floyd album after Animals.
Even today, "Another Brick In the Wall" is an instant station-changing song. Yuck.
I haven't had the patience to sit through the movie yet. I doubt that will ever happen.

4agreed, young lust is a real clunker. but i think the wall is an amazing piece of work, i pretty much love everything pink floyd did in the 70s and early 80s...i know that officially puts me out of indie rock coolsville but i never minded standing in the rain.

5I really liked The Wall when I was 14, for some reason. It bores me to tears now though, except maybe for Dave Gilmour's guitar tone which I have always enjoyed.
I was only a wee toddler when the video for "Another Brick..." was on TV a lot, and boy did I have nightmares after watching those kids going into the mincer and the wall closing in around that little pink dude.
But what about Bob Geldof shaving his body in the movie? Clucking bell, that made me squirm.

6The concept album... Oh boy. This goes hand in hand with Queensryche 'operation mindcrime' and Rush '2112'... I'm sure there are many others that I can't think of right now, but 'the wall' happens to be my first introduction to a room full of stoned musicians saying "trippy." Yeah, I thought it was more interesting watching the facial expressions of the people watching the movie than watching the movie itself. Personally, I've never watched the movie all the way through without falling asleep. Ah... Good times. I'm sure that it takes some effort to make a concept album (bonus for a movie) but I really have not seen it used to full effect. I'm leaning towards crap, although I got some good laughs from the stoners watching.

8I didn't say that "the Wall" is equal to anything... I said that the idea of a concept album reminds me of OTHER concept albums. Then I mentioned a couple off of my head. No comparisons... Nothin'... That being said, I still don't like "The Wall" and I REALLY don't like "Operation Mindcrime."

9This should be a poll of its own - shite / fucking shite. It lands in the second category with such a splatter that filth and vileness spray all over some passing children. And then they go home and get bollocked by their mums for being all stinky and horrible.

10you just helped me like it a little bit more, thanks.
