how many times have you seen a band.

I wear this information like a badge.

I have made a SERIOUS effort for these repeat shows:

Shellac 8 times. I flew to NYC strictly to see them, flew to San Fran to see them and I flew to Chicago strictly to see them. I've seen them twice in 1 day 2 times. It would have been 9 times had the wiffleball tournament in Athens not been cancelled. I drove 10 hours to get there with some really horrible girls and cried when I found out it was cancelled.

Neurosis 5 times. I flew to Seattle strictly to see them - 2 nights in a row. I flew to San Fran to see them and Shellac, 2 nights in a row and I drove 18 hours to Philly in a rental car with my girlfriend and her sister fighting the whole way so I could see this band.

Today Is The Day sadly only 4 times. I spent a weekend following them around the state of Florida (Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando) and I took that same car trip to Philly for them as well.

I've seen Isis 4 times, High on Fire 4 times, Melvins 6 times, Mastadon 6 times, Melt Bananna 5 times, alot of others.........but none of these took the effort, planning, time and money as the 3 favorites mentioned above.

Seeing shows is the thing I look forward to most and I don't see that changing anytime soon, even though I'm a grown up with kids. It's just my favorite thing to do.

OK, how about this...

I have seen (edit: name of bad NYC band here) 4 times and I hate them. They are terrible! I only go to see the burning hot theremin player Pamelia Kursten who, sadly, plays out with them.

I position myself in such a way as to have the rest of the band blocked from my sight by someone's head or my own hand. I wish I could do that with their music, too...

I wrecked my car into a corn field that night, almost killed everyone.
Other bands I've seen too many times:

johnsburg VFW hall. seam, c-clamp, shellac, dianogah, and flour's band (can't recall the name?). worst driving directions ever.

i saw shellac at almost all of those shows listed, as well as my FIRST shellac show, with the coctails, rodan, and ballharvester at lounge ax in... 93? early 94?

also saw shellac at ATP (3x), oberlin college (night after final killdozer show), indianapolis, louisville, and a couple times in seattle.
