how many times have you seen a band.

Sure.

I saw them play a few times around Willpower. Violently loud shows and the band was clearly a unit of dedicated guys ripping into it. Small room, no stage, so loud the second time that there were more people outside the room than in it (avoiding the overwhelming volume). Good, powerful stuff.

The next couple of times I saw them was a few years later, after their self titled LP. The previous bassist was out of the band and being slagged by Steve Austin and the drummer. They were on a sort of tour with Zeni Geva. It was good, but they paled in comparison to ZG.

The final time was a few years later, when it had clearly become just Austin's vehicle. I thought the music had stopped being creative and was just pushing buttons. Not interesting buttons. Buttons with goats heads and pentagrams and Wed Craven scripts.

So I think the quality and interesting nature of the band really dropped off. Their first single on AmRep was a revelation for me. It seems best for me to go back and listen to it when I want some of what I liked about them.

Agreed.

The first time I listened to Temple of the Morning Star it crept up on me with a sinking sick feeling in my stomach, which memory is replicating for me as I type. In The Eyes Of God was an entirely different feel/band/statement/etc. Though they did spawn half of Mastodon.

Supernova & Willpower, now thems some music.
It's like you put everything into a bottle inside itself.

Well that kinda sucks. Temple of The Morning Star is one of my favorite records. Have you listened to this?

Also, Live 'Til You Die has this awesome cover of "Feel Like Makin' Love."

I agree that they are ear shatteringly loud, but I kinda enjoy that about this band live.

I have heard that alot of people think Steve Austin is an asshole, but I can say from experience that he is one of the nicest rock musicians I've ever met (aside from Weston). We sat outside the bar talking about our kids 3 nights in a row after shows.

Oh well........
