any of the breckenridge brews are better than the new belgian ones..

I used to live twenty minutes from the Breckenridge Brewpub on South Main St. in Breckenridge, CO. I have had many Propers, many Oatmeal Stouts, many Avalanche Ales.

They are all crap. CRAP.

i sure wish i could find ones out here (NJ) that were as good or better. suggestions?

the bad thing about jersey is, i've yet to come across a local brewery with anything good to offer. there's a place out of cherry hill called Flying Fish (mostly english/belgian style ales) that i hear people rave about. I've had their extra pale ale and esb ale and i don't like them very much.

the good thing is, you're close enough to breweries in other states that are certainly worth exploring/visiting. Dogfish Head is in Deleware and I'm sure their brewery is incredible... Blue Point out on Long Island makes some good beers. Friends have visited and enjoyed Brooklyn Brewery... I'm probably forgetting many others.

I've had Fat Tire, and it was ok. Mastermind's been stocking the fridge with Fat Squirrel lately and it's pretty good.
New Glarus is kick ass.

I played some brewery in Milwaukee that was near that coffee shop with all the motorcycle racing shit drilled into the wall - they had good beer.

I think people should post some beer recommendations.

Cheap: Ballantine Ale in the half quart cans. Different brewery than the bottles and 12 oz cans. Top notch. I always have a case available.

Expensive: Otter Creek Pale Ale, Bombardier, and Anchor Steam. No revelations there for anyone, I guess.

I for one am excited to have Fat Tire available in Chimago. I invariably order it when I am west of the Missippi. Ooh, that don't look right. Even if I have to go to Bar Louie to have it, I am happy that it is possible.

Now we have to work on Shiner Bock. Mmmmm, Shiner Bock.
