i realize it's likely to be a combination of all these things and/or others (hence the "other"), but if you had to pick just one that's the most significant factor in why you do like specific bands as opposed to others, generally...

I voted mood, but generally it has to be a really unique mood to stick out. I mean, there are no other bands that evoke the same moods for me as bands like Don Caballero, Shellac, Lightning Bolt, Neutral Milk Hotel.

I figure that the most lasting stuff is the stuff that makes you feel the most. As long as it's not too derivative or cliched.

Cocaine comsumption is really important to me in a band. I really like Oasis, Metallica and the Olsen Twins for this reason.

range! any band can play fast all of the time. any band can play slow all of the time. I hate when I see a great band that has my undivided attention for the first song, then they play almost the same song ten times for their set. fucking bores me to tears.
bands that are all loud and fast all the time dont sound very powerful after a few songs.
