I did tell you how I feel about it. I said don't just bitch about it, do something about it. You brought it up.

Calm down kid. If you're going to post to an anonymous forum with a bunch of internet twerps you need to be a big boy and take the criticism and the sarcasm and the cynicism.

Yeah, but that stuff about slipping stuff under people's doors is creepy.

Hey!

A) it was a joke! It was supposed to be creepy!

B) look at your avatar! Now *THAT* is creepy!

I don't know if the joke would make sense to you, if maybe it's only an American thing... but when kids are in school, when they are maybe 10 years old, girls give boys notes that say

"I like you, do you like me? Circle one.

Yes
No
Totally
No way
I love you
I hate you"

And stupid shit like that. So I was making a joke, that you can stalk cool bands at their practice space and then slip a note under their door like a 10-year-old would do.

What I was suggesting, for real, is that connections that lead to people actually playing together, these connections seem to me to be made in the real world, face-to-face, in a conversation. Not through an advertisement. And the practice space example was a joking way of saying "you need to go find the musicians wherever it is that they are".

Okay!

Bluesy86, the reason I started playing music in the first place is because a friend of mine from school called me up and asked me if I wanted to play bass in his band. And I didn't know how to play a single note, but I said "okay". And he had a bass, and I learned how to play it. Now I am a big rockstar on a major label with all kinda nekkid womens hanging out in my hottub at my mansion.

Call your friend up and tell him he needs to learn how to play guitar. Go to a pawnshop and buy a cheap guitar. Do whatever it takes to make a band.

Do not rely on ads. They suck ass.

Being a control freak, this has been the only approach that has achieved enjoyable and lenghty results for me.
