I have always liked the Sadies when I saw them but MAN! They really outdid themselves on that Nico Case record... the one with the tiger drawing on the front. Whew! What a backing band! I think it is their and her best.

...and Don Pyle is about as cool and nice as they come! Wish I could be at those shows.

Hey Steve... now YOU are the show taper! I wonder if Henry Rollins will be there to tell you to get lost...

I dunno if this is all for real or what. But if it is, I think it's great. Steve is a fine person, and a super-talented recording engineer-- for his technical skill, experience, demeanor, and any number of other reasons.

I would be willing to pretty much guarantee that Steve will go out of his way to be professional, courteous to the appropriate parties, and to make it sound as good as possible. He will not be the taper he despises, but will be the crafty engineer who happens to be at a music venue instead of in a studio.

I am already envious of the caliber of gear I expect he'll be using, and I don't even know if I yet believe that this is legit!

Also, this rocks! There's a statement on that thread somewhere that Steve makes which parallels the existence of an all-knowing, all-loving God with the existence of a non-ass taper. Don't talk to me about Bradley R. Weissenberger's recurring link to the "logical fallacy" page... By doing this live recording, he will be effectively proving the existence of a benevolent God!! It's a FACT. It's a big, honking scienticious FACT!!

;)

Seriously though, I think this sounds great.

from the sadies' myspace page...

"Two weeks ago The Sadies played a couple of shows at Lee's Palace. Things went very well. The shows were recorded and a live double-album with accompanying DVD is set for release this summer. Take a looksie:"
