I love that guy, and I think he's kind of hot. Wry, snarky wit + knows how to enjoy food + a great five o'clock shadow = a serious turn-on. But I don't catch his show regularly. I can't even keep straight which channel it's on - either the Food Network or the Travel channel. I usually just catch it when I'm flipping through the channel at some odd AM hour.
I like that he doesn't always rave fanatically about the food he samples. My favorite was his episode in Oaxaca, Mexico with the iguana tacos. (Bourdain: "They taste just like they look. Worst episode ever.")
I'm not into Jamie Olivier though. He's obviously a sharp cook, but he rarely has anything on his show I'd eat. Plus I've been avoiding that show ever since the mushy peas episode. It makes my eyelid twitch just thinking about it. Pretty British boys with mushy peas really aren't my thing.
Now some Brit's gonna come in and defend the virtue of mushy peas as if there is any virtue to such a dish. I just know it.

Just like Jamie Oliver i could watch his shows over and over.
To me he is a great presenter/host what ever you call it.
Very interesting.
NC no waffles.
How could you vote Not Crap for a cooking show that has no waffles?

14You win.
end of thread.
i wrote it for that very reason and it took all day for someone to get it

15I am the Brit.
Mushy peas are excellent with Fish & Chips. In fact, if we were not famous for our dish of Fish & Chips, we would be famous for our dish of Fish & Chips & Mushy Peas.
I would like to pull Jamie Olivers large tongue out of his somehow too small a mouth, nail it to table then run at his face with the flat end of a large log, shouting 'Pukka, pukka, pukka, you fucking fat fucking cunt!'
But I approve of good nutrition for schoolchildren.

19Though I've never seen the show, I'm voting Not Crap, based entirely on the merits of his book, Kitchen Confidential.
As a reluctant Service Industry Professional, I recognized a lot of the people in that book. It's a great ode to a life that we all loathe to love.
Bourdain is sincere and funny and never once pretends to be smarter or superior to his subjects. He has a real affection for the people in the book, and always seems to be trying to measure up to the people that he's writing about. Though he sometimes fails, it's a noble effort nonetheless.
There's a reason why every waiter, bartender, and cook I know has read that book and holds it dear in a way.
And I've eaten at Les Halles. Best rilletes ever.

In Guaymas I tried tacos de cahuamanta (manta ray tacos). They did not taste too good.
