One of the best hardcore ever.
They put on some amazing records.
Sean Ingram's voice is simply the most powerful hardcore voice within that scene.
Coalesce is the most Not Crap band.
Band: Coalesce
2There is no better band in hardcore. Coalesce had technical skill, terrifying vocals, lyrical content that's worth a shit, and they had "in the pocket" sorta grooves.
They wrote songs that were both heavy as shit and stuck with you.
Simply brilliant...not crap.

3I haven't voted because I've only heard two of their records (which are not crap, by the way).
They are one of the best bands I've ever seen live though (Staten Island NY, June '97). They were totally raw pure pummeling dirge! The guitarist was the best - he bust a few strings and rather than interrupt the set to change them, he just started swinging it around at people's feet like he was trying to chop them off - still plugged in of course - resulting in some nasty feedback. The band just kept on playing like he did it every gig ... Maybe he did?!

5so many people told me how great this band was. they are utterly boring and pedestrian. the singer needs to eat a cosmic cock.

7NOT CRAP.
I've seen them live many times, and they've never ceased to amaze me.
Steve should've recorded them.

8great band! 'give 'em rope' and 'functioning on impatience' are incredible. i don't even think it's fair to lump them in with the hardcore and metal scenes because they have no peers in either.
i once played my wingwalker/doris 7" at 33rpm. it kinda sounded like a long Coalesce breakdown. not crap!
(definitely an aquired taste though..)

9I saw a couple of their first shows, and they were great. The crazy guitarist you're talking about was living in my hometown at the time. I remember the PC police were calling for people to boycott their shows after he knocked some girl out with his guitar (on accident). Never owned any records, though I liked what I heard.

10definatey not crap. very very far from it. one of my top 3 favorite hardcore bands. guitar player blows me away. and the sense of groove is unparalleled in hardcore. one of the few hardcore bands that is comprised of real musicians, rather than the redundant one-chord chug breakdown tight pant wearing bullshit that's saturating that market as of late. wish i had the chance to see them live, although i hear that they are getting back together, but under a different name (?).
if anyone reading this is unfamiliar with them, i highly suggest you check out "Give Them Rope" and "Functioning On Impatience" (of course all their albums are great, but those IMO are the best).
