The last track on Akuma No Uta (akuma no uta - evil song) is one of the greatest rock songs i have ever heard.

I also like the mock Nick Drake cover art. It makes me smile.

I just got the dvd Heavy Metal Me. It is pretty good.

i like everything i've heard from boris. the feedbacker record, akuma no uta, the NEW ONE (which melts face, if you haven't already heard it)... so good.


and yet so frustratingly hard to find on vinyl.

Anyone recommend an album other than "Pink?" I've listened to it about a half-dozen times, and despite it being sonically awesome, I think it falls kinda flat in the songcraft department.

Of course, maybe you don't listen to minimalist Japanese noise-metal for songcraft. Duh.

Recordings like "Amplifier Worship" and "Feedbacker" are really slow droney metal. i guess what they call doom metal?

Akuma No Uta is terrific. I would rate Feedbacker much more highly than Amplifier Worship but yeah, they are kind of drone/doom.

I like Boris a lot. I don't like every single minute of everything they've done, but that's just testament to how much ground they can cover. An awesome band that's just getting better and better.

There's some really good heavy music coming out of Japan these days.

I like AbsoluteGo a lot as well as those others.

I am fated never to see them live. I'm always on holiday when they tour.

They're not quite minimalist noise metal, but there's another fantastic Japanese band called DMBQ you should check out. Raucous, noisy, heavy neo-pyschedelia with some great grooves.

I normally think their "rock" stuff is kind of boring but Pink has changed my mind.
