My band played with Avail in Memphis about two years ago. Grim fucking scene.

But not as grim as the time we opened up for a Mr. Show DVD at the same venue. You read that right, I opened up for a DVD.

silly me, i thought you were a yankee farmhand, playing a-ball for the clippers or something. i never would've guessed you were a musician.

which dvd was it? if it was season 3 you're lucky, that was the best.

I am with kerble, electrons, and jay on this one. You guys need to lighten up. I, for one, am very tired of the piety and cynicism among the rock set. There were some very, very good sets last year, and the park itself was spacious with ample port-a-potties and more than decent food. Of course, the most underground of the underground were not on the bill, but it's an outdoor music fest, the point of which is FUN. For a measly $22, you really could not go wrong. Give the Pitchfuckers credit. And the pass is only $30 this year. They could easily charge double that.

I think it's mean-spirited to make fun of the kids with their button earrings and what not. So what? They're just trying on a costume to figure out who they are, just like we all did. Cut them some slack.

Dunno if this is it, but a google search for "Jack White Pitchfork" turned up this:

I think I like Jack White.

Everything I read of his, he seems like a pretty smart guy.

Can't do it, my friend. I'm not too cool for people who think they're too cool (or whatever you want to call it). I just hate Pitchfork. If they get some cool bands to play at a festival, good for the cool bands. If Pitchfork's name is on it, I'll pass.

Do more than cut them some slack. Hug them.

Hug them.

I think I do too. I always imagine him as his character in Coffee and Cigarettes where he's toting a Tesla Coil around in a red wagon. It's actually quite a brilliant scene. Yes, I like to think that he is that character. I do not, however, dig the White Stripes (to my fiance's dismay).

I might go see a band called Pitchfuckers, but I would not see a band called Negative Soul.
