From a song title by my favourite Japanese alt-hip-pop duo HALCALI. They are 2 quite insane young women and my favourite song of theirs is called "Giri-Giri Surfrider". It translates 2 different ways :
1) barely a surfrider,
2) a reference to a person being someone who 'surf-rides' the 'cutting edge' (of culture and whatnot).
Their song basically states this boy they sing of is 'barely' riding the cutting edge although he thinks he seems to think otherwise. I don't think he can surf very well either. I thought this was pretty funny and maybe a cartoon refelction of me in some instances.

Also, my obsession with the 70's surf flick Crystal Voyager no doubt helped me cement my choice of username.

Edited for being complete bibble. Still is probably.
You're a shit DM and i want my pizza money back.

When I was somewhere in the range of 19-20 years old and unable to attend 21-and-over shows, my friends DrAkward, Choppy, Yaledelay and their bandmate MandyM were all in a band called The Pop Machine. They were scheduled to open a show for the Poster Children at the Empty Bottle and I really wanted to go but could not, so...

I joined their band. My job was to change the reel-to-reels, sit on stage smoking and looking surly during songs, and help Choppy make a noise with his bass at the end of the last song of the set. Also, as DrAwkward and Choppy didn't drink at the time, I was to use their drink tickets on Black Russians for myself.

The day after the show, we all went out for brunch with Chris S. from the P-kids listserv. At one point, MandyM and I were walking down the sidewalk toward the boys, on the way back from her car. Both Mandy and I were wearing mostly black, dark Jackie-O sunglasses, and were matching each other pace-for-pace. Someone (either Choppy or DrAwkward) said something akin to, "holy shit, it's the Mandroids!" I believe that one of them has a photo capturing this Mandroid moment.

After that, I joined the band officially and played actual instruments, became Mandroid2000 and Mandy became Mandroid1000 (or MandroidM and MandroidMM if you prefer, since both of our surnames start with "M").
