the milford is absolutely correct. i stand corrected. I feel that the melvins are a perfect example of range. also capable of the heaviest, meanest songs in the whole world.

Originality/ Distinctness. In my opinion, there is nothing worse than a clone band. Especially when a band is cloning a shitty band.

I voted for songwriting--but not lyrics, necessarily. Arrangements, melodies/cadences and phrasing. Many, many bands have good sonics; but that's easy to do. Originality is a close second, but it's hard to appreciate originality without good songs, obviously.
